Host a Japanese student for 4 days during the summer vacation
Monday 9 to Friday 13 January

Shoji Australia is a local company with a 25 year history in WA coordinating educational and cultural programs for Japanese & Australian students. We have a small group of students aged 13-17 coming from Hokkaido, Japan in January and are looking for friendly families who are willing to host a student during their stay in Australia and be a part of this fun cultural experience. It doesn’t matter how old your children are as the Japanese students tend to mix well with students of different ages.

What is needed: Apart from friendship, host families only need to provide a bed (a mattress is OK), meals for the students, and transfer to the Peppermint Grove Community Centre (1 Leake St Peppermint Grove). They will have English lessons on the Monday and Tuesday as well as a local excursion. Wednesday will be a full day excursion that host siblings are welcome to attend (1 free of charge) and the Thursday (the last full day) is free to spend with host families. Shoji Australia act as guardians for the students during their stay and offer 24 hour bilingual support to students and host families. Families will receive payment to cover the student’s living expenses.

Why: It’s rewarding and fun for families to experience another culture, share the Japanese students’ experiences learning about Australia, and form international friendships.

If you are interested in being a host family please contact Shoji Australia on 9385 6911 or coordinator@shojiaustralia.com.au for further information.
